Rob Cuni is a professional commercial photographer with over twenty years of experience in photojournalism. What started out as a possible lucrative business opportunity and a chance to help his sister, whom had just graduated from CW Post with a degree in photography, Cuni opened St. James One Hour Photo back in 1987 in his native Long Island. It is there that he began to fully explore the many avenues in the world of photography.
Coincidentally, during that time a good friend was also branching out into his area of expertise, professional baseball. Cuni began snapping pictures of the future Toronto Blue Jay and began covering baseball games among other sporting events for a local newspaper.
In 1997, Cuni sold his store to pursue his passion full time. His commercial endeavors include photography for brochures and websites for various hotels, catering halls and real estate companies. He has photographed hundreds of hotels, campgrounds and complexes, including over 300 Best Western hotels throughout the US and Canada.
Over the past several years he has photographed many Major League and Minor League baseball games all over the US. His works have been published in various publications including Baseball America, The Toronto Star, USA Today and Newsday among others.
His work is becoming in high demand as in 2004 he was selected to photograph Hideki Matsui for the Taylor Publishing's hardcover book, Godzilla Takes the Bronx by Jerry Beach. In 2012 he provided the photography for Frank Catalanotto's hardcover book Heart & Hustle by Bantry Bay Publishing. Recently he provided the cover images of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez for Bryan Hoch’s book, The Baby Bombers published by Diversion Books.
In the past several years he has started to photograph local Long Island landmarks and landscapes, in 2019 his work will be on display throughout Long Island at several libraries and art galleries each month.
While his work leads him to travel often, Cuni still calls Long Island his home. He resides in St. James, New York where he has many ties to the community.
