camera Fujifilm x-t5

I have been doing photography for as long as I can remember. When I was 10 years old, my father gifted me my first camera, a lime green FujiFilm point-and-shoot, which I took everywhere with me. Now, with an unwavering passion, I strive to capture the beauty of the outdoors and the natural world that surrounds us—nature's breathtaking landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and captivating wildlife fuel my creative spirit. Through my lens, I aim to preserve these awe-inspiring moments and share them with the world. In addition to the wonders of nature, I am equally fascinated by the beauty of human beings. I believe every individual carries a unique essence that deserves to be celebrated and immortalized in photographs. I seek to capture the genuine emotions, connections, and stories that define us as human beings. Through my photography, I endeavor to create art that encapsulates both the stunning allure of the natural world and the inherent beauty within humanity. I am driven by the belief that these images can inspire a deeper appreciation for all life's interconnectedness and motivate others to safeguard the precious gift of nature we have been entrusted with.

How did you get started with photography

My wife is a Chef and I really began to explore the idea of photography to help market her catering and personal chef business. As I began to get more involved in that process my photo skills were improving to the point where I began to get encouragement from other photographers to pursue it as a career. I've always been an admirer of good design, image and composition. To be able to have the ability to create my own images and have people connect with them in such a positive way has been very inspiring.

What do you love about your job?

I love food! There are so many elements of food that delight the senses. Color, texture, smell and of course taste. I really enjoy that I can shoot at a 5 star restaurant one day and a Mom and Pop hot dog joint the next and the challenge to make a mouth watering, crave inducing image is the same in both aspects.

What are some of your favorite places in Chicago to take photographs?

My favorite places are Sushi restaurants. The level of creativity and artistry seems boundless. The array of colors and textures always make for a fantastic experience. I would also have to express a fondness for high end restaurants for some of the same reasons. To see food elevated to the highest levels through such expert execution and premium ingredients is always a treat.
