More about William 4....
What do you love about your job?
I love capturing beauty. Originally, I was content with just that, but with the advent of photo processing tools like Photoshop and many others, I became more of an artist than a photographer. I believe the image out of the camera is the canvas, the starting point. While that is sometimes sufficient to meet my goal, I often use tools to achieve something more. If someone complements me on a photo, I smile with contentment. But that isn't necessary, as my primary critic is myself. Regarding real estate, my goal is a little different. It is to make the seller say wow, this is my home? It looks great. Then I know they will have the best chance of getting buyers into the home, and that's the key. Selling a home is a numbers game.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I've done a variety of shoots. Mostly landscape and real estate. More recently, I've done food photography for Postmates and Uber Eats. It's hard to make these special, as the guidelines are quite strict. I did my first wedding last month, and it turned out great. One thing I did to make it special was add some artistic flare to certain photos, such as the cake, the rings, etc. I do drone photos, and I have added red-line annotations to highlight property lines. AirBnB photos, which again are quite strict. 360 tours.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I don't typically participate in such things. I have friends who are constantly sending their photos to all sorts of organizations, and of course they occasionally get acclaim. I don't. Marketing my work is not one of my strengths. I did have a local news source once choose my photo for their ad. I believe they saw it on Facebook. And I did win $1000 for a photo of Sedona in a contest sponsored by my real estate broker, Long Realty, when I was a realtor.
A fun fact about this photographer
I don't know if they are "fun", but a couple facts about me: I enjoy playing guitar, although I wouldn't consider myself good. It's fun for me. And, I'm a US Army veteran. Back in the 70s when I was discharged, that was a liability. Folks looked at veterans with scorn. So different today. I even get a special parking spot at Lowes.
