I spent a day shooting portraits of my friend's aging dog. I approached lighting him just as I would any human model, and the results were beautiful. He was such a good subject, loved to pose for the camera and we came up with some incredibly striking images. He may be a pug, but he's one of the best models I've had the good fortune to work with.
