Hi! I’m Tijmen Hobbel, a photographer and videographer based in Amsterdam, and the founder of Studio Brainbow. I focus on travel, event and people. Over the past several years, I’ve been fortunate enough to turn my camera into a passport — working across six continents and capturing everything from global conferences and brand activation campaigns to music videos, live performances, and behind-the-scenes moments with touring bands and cozy events

My work has taken me from the frozen landscapes of Antarctica to the beaches of Bali, from neon-lit nights in Tokyo to high-end events in Dubai, with a great variety of destinations in between. Along the way, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with a wide range of clients — from small business owners and independent creatives to luxury brands and large-scale, high-ticket productions in exclusive venues.

No matter the scale, I approach each project with the same mindset: to capture the energy, story, and atmosphere of the moment in a way that feels authentic and engaging. Whether I’m shooting a fast-paced festival set, a polished corporate event, or a quiet pre-show moment backstage, I aim to create content that’s both visually striking and genuinely reflective of the experience.

If a project requires it, I can tap into my large network of talented creative professionals to build the right team for the job. This flexibility ensures we can handle projects of any size and scope, while maintaining the highest quality and attention to detail.

If you’re planning an event and need someone who’s creative, dependable, and ready to hit the ground running anywhere in the world , let’s talk!

Cosa ami del tuo lavoro?

What I love most about being a photographer is that it never feels routine. Every shoot is a new chance to pay attention—to light, to emotion, to subtle details most people overlook. I get to help people see themselves and their world with fresh eyes. That’s a privilege, and I don’t take it lightly.

Over the years, I’ve trained formally and worked professionally across portraits, products, events, and editorials. My approach is thoughtful and grounded: observe closely, shoot with purpose, and stay honest to the subject. If you're looking for images that carry both clarity and character, we’ll make a good team.

Che tipi di servizi hai fatto e come li hai resi speciali?

I’ve always loved how photography throws you into situations you’d never plan for—but somehow end up being exactly where you’re supposed to be. Some of the most memorable shoots I’ve done weren’t the ones with the most gear or prep—they were the ones where something just clicked.

Like a portrait shoot in the streets of Tokyo—no lighting setup, no assistant, just chasing natural light through backstreets and letting the city do half the storytelling. Or standing in the raw silence of Antarctica where the scale of everything stripped your senses down to the essentials. In Mongolia, I photographed a nomadic family in the steppe. completely off-grid, completely present. That shoot taught me patience, respect, and how to communicate without saying much at all.

In Bali, I worked on a photojournalism piece about organic rice farming, learning about sustainability and tradition from people who live it every day. Then there’s the other extreme: the rush of photographing bands at massive European festivals, shoulder to shoulder with the crowd, trying to freeze chaos into one clean frame that still feels alive.

Each of those shoots reminded me why I do this: not just to take nice pictures, but to experience things fully, and to help others see them in a way that’s honest, curious, and human.

Premi, onorificenze e riconoscimenti ricevuti

My work has taken me to six continents and has been featured in international magazines and newspapers. But for me, the real recognition comes when the work connects, whether it's a published piece, a client who feels seen, or a moment that hits exactly the way it should.

Un fatto divertente su questo fotografo

Before (and alongside) photography, I’ve been a musician for years—playing in bands, recording albums, and touring all over Europe. Being on stage in front of big crowds taught me how to stay grounded and present under pressure, which carries over into my work now. It also made me comfortable working with (and in front of) large groups—whether it’s directing a team on a shoot or blending into the background at a live event.
