Callista is an experienced photographer who started taking and editing photographs when she was young. She took classes in high school and continued her passion for photography in her every day life, taking photographs of nature, pets, and loved ones. She later turned photography into a career when she became a crime scene investigator. There, her pictures had no room for error or edits. She honed her skills until her growing family meant it was time for a change. Callista decided to leave her career as a CSI to focus solely on photography.

Wat vind je het leukst aan je werk?

I love taking an ordinary space or product and using light, shadow, and composition to give it feeling. Side-by-side with a basic phone photo, it’s incredible to see the difference that total control over camera settings, creative lighting, and thoughtful editing can make.

Welke soorten shoots heb je gedaan en hoe heb je ze speciaal gemaakt?

I’ve done real estate photography and food photography. To me, making a shoot special comes down to control and mood.A standard photo shows what a place looks like, but I focus on how it feels. Whether that’s capturing the view through the window while keeping the interior visible, using strategic lighting to highlight architectural textures, or carefully composing a product shot to make it pop, I make every shoot special by bringing out details that a casual photo completely misses.

At age 19 I decided to take my online studies abroad and lived in Wellington, New Zealand for a year. I spent my days sleeping in, exploring nature (and Lord of the Rings and Hobbit filming locations), reading at the beach, making new friends, and learning new cultures!
