Hi, I'm James. I started photographing for newspapers near the end of the film days and have continued ever since, changing and adapting with technology. Years of study and assisting have passed since then, and I've had the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients. It all comes down to storytelling, and photography has a unique advantage in being able to present a moment in time which will never be repeated. I approach my work this way. When I turn in my photos to the client I want them to relive the experience. My work is a collaboration between the client and me, we're in this together.

Wat vind je het leukst aan je werk?

I love the process. The need to be on your game to capture a prefect moment, to interact with clients, to manage their expectations and deliver a product which underscores the value of professional photography.

Welke soorten shoots heb je gedaan en hoe heb je ze speciaal gemaakt?

With commercial shoots the key is to set expectations upfront. A run sheet, what the client can do to get the most from the day, what to expect from me on-site, where I will place equipment, etc. when the client feels informed they can relax and let the session unfold. For events it is very important to take charge, to be personable and (gently) guide people to capture the best moments. Also, to contrast that, it's important to be invisible when required.

I typically receive great feedback from clients, but was formally acknowledged by Casey Relay for Cancer for doing a great job at their event.
