Meer over Jie W....
Wat vind je het leukst aan je werk?
What I love most about my job is the unique ability to freeze a moment that will never happen again. Photography, to me, is the ultimate form of 'cultural mediation'—it allows me to translate a person’s emotion or the energy of an event into a permanent visual story.
Having worked in Paris for years, I particularly love the diversity of the human experience I get to witness. One day I am capturing the high-pressure elegance of a fashion show, and the next, the quiet, raw emotion of a portrait session. I find great fulfillment in making my subjects feel confident and seen. Ultimately, I love the challenge of finding beauty in the details and delivering a final product that exceeds a client’s expectations.
Welke soorten shoots heb je gedaan en hoe heb je ze speciaal gemaakt?
I enjoy the challenge of being a multi-disciplinary photographer in a single day. During a wedding, I am a fashion photographer for the portraits, a documentary photographer for the ceremony, and a high-speed event photographer for the reception.
Prijzen, onderscheidingen en erkenningen ontvangen
While I focus more on client satisfaction than competitions, my greatest recognition comes from my referral rate. Over 40% of my wedding bookings in Paris come from previous clients' recommendations. I have also been recognized by local venues for my professionalism and ability to navigate high-pressure event logistics without disrupting the flow of the ceremony.
Een leuk feitje over deze fotograaf
I speak three languages, and I often joke that photography is my fourth. During my Master’s studies in Cultural Mediation here in Paris, I became fascinated by how a single image can transcend language barriers. Once, while shooting a multicultural wedding, I found myself communicating with guests from four different continents entirely through gestures and the back of my camera screen! It taught me that a great smile and a powerful composition are truly universal. When I’m not behind the lens, you can usually find me hunting for the best 'hidden' espresso bar in the 11th arrondissement—I'm a firm believer that the best photos are fueled by high-quality caffeine!
