During financial crisis of 2008, I was in a severe car crash. Part of my recovery was launching Jewell PR Creative Services. I went back to school to complete my bachelors degree in digital media design. A degree that encompasses graphic design, multimedia, photography and video. I was able to grow from doing just graphic design to doing real estate photography, product photography, food photography and photojournalism.

I work for KKTV 11 News as a photographer. I do food photography for Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats. I am a subcontractor for Home Jab and OBEO. I also shoot portraits and businesses for Studio Now.

I am excited to join Snappr as photographer.

Wat vind je het leukst aan je werk?

Photography helps me understand light for illustration. I am an illustrator by nature. As I get better at modifying and manipulating light, it improves my photography, it improves my video work, it improves my illustrations, and it improves my understanding of CGI. As a bonus, when I nail a great image for clients, it makes them feel good and it makes me feel good with them.

Welke soorten shoots heb je gedaan en hoe heb je ze speciaal gemaakt?

I do food photography and news photography the most. News is tough because I encounter people on the worst days of their lives. I try to approach them with honor and respect for their trauma or loss. But I do have to photograph the event, whatever it is. I try my best to be respectful. It is often in low light situations. Bad weather. Unpredictable circumstances. But it is photojournalism. By its very nature, very sad and traumatic.

I enjoy doing art projects with my grandsons. Making stuff like lightsabers or masks of some of the superhero movies to doing illustrations or building legos. It is really great when we get our cameras and go for hikes.
