Arif Kassam has enjoyed phootography since High School when he shot black and white and developed the actual prints.

Arif started his professional photography career shooting Family events and portraiture. He was encouraged to shoot his first wedding in 2005, which was a destination wedding in Cancun. That client loved the pics soo much they referred me to a few people, who referred me to a few people and it just expanded. 80% of my business was word of mouth.

Arif has been active in shooting Corporate events and head shots as well as sporting events such as junior ice hockey tournaments. Arif has most recently shot a ringette tournament that was held in Edmonton.

Arif understands lighting and camera settings and always shoots in manual mode for maximum control. Arif is fully capable of editing in photoshop and lightroom but strives to "get it right in camera"

More about Arif K....

What do you love about your job?

As a photographer, especially for weddings, I try to capture the whole story for the couple's special day. I take great pride in being able to capture genuine expressions and emotions during the course of the wedding. When I put together the album for the couple, this is where I feel my skills really shine. I love to assemble the album in a way that illustrates the story from start to finish including all the emotions that were captured. Observing the wedding couple view and re-live the events from the album is an amazing experience as I have the opportunity to once again see their genuine emotions come out whether it be tears of joy, bashful smile, or just pure love.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

As mentioned above, I take pride in being able to capture the moment. My style is more a photo-journalistic / traditional one. Whether it's a bride wiping a tear or a hockey game where a player just took a hit, what i believe I do to make a photo special is simply being able to capture it at the right time.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

Received WeddingWire's peoples choice award in 2012 and 2014.
Was honored to be one of the photographers to capture the inauguration of the AgaKhan Gardens in Devon Alberta

A fun fact about this photographer

I started my professional business doing more editing than shooting as Photoshop was still quite advanced and expensive.
