More about Burton B....
What do you love about your job?
I love people, that is what I love the most about photography. I can very much enjoy and appreciate a gorgeous landscape photo or still life photo or product photo, but I myself have real passion for photography with people. The human face is more interesting to look at than anything else. Incredible amounts of emotion can be felt through one still image of a person, and true empathy can be conveyed with a single image. Beyond just emotion, humans have experiences that they want to feel again, to remember like it was yesterday, and photography has the unique power to slow down time and bring those memories right to the surface once again.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have most experience shooting family portraits, and they are special because it captures those moments and cements them in time forever. Kids grow up so fast, and still photos have that power to bring everyone right back to that moment. It allows the kids to look at themselves as babies, and see a day with their parents that only the parents remember. Couples can see themselves in that honeymoon or babymoon phase and remember all of their emotions during that period of their lives. It's incredibly special to be able to capture those important memories and emotions.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I do not have any awards at the moment, but I'm always working on my photography, and I do submit to photography contests from time to time.
A fun fact about this photographer
I went to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait on a journalism photography/videography job for 3 weeks with my friend and colleague Bryan and his Chicago-based production company.
