More about Catalin A....

What do you love about your job?

I like both experiment and realism. Experiment, pushing the boundaries, avoiding stereotypes, when I can, it's just depending on the job. I am excited about developing a story from an idea in the sense I can produce ideas for the shoot or inspire others along a set story and/or a brief. It is the basic difference e between making a photo(stage it) and taking a photo(documentary)

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I like photojournalism, that was my starting point in photography. From here I had my my approach for the portraiture and fashion. The light painting in the beginning for the need of showing the essence of the things.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

I have received many prizes, but the dearest ones to me are :

1992 - British Journal of Photography - Prize for originality for light painting nudes
1995 - Minolta Prize at the Festival of Avant-garde Photography, Burghausen
2005 - Black and White Spider Award for Light Painting

A fun fact about this photographer

First developed film was in the bathroom where I had my darkroom, exposed to light before fixing it in 1987 and I did the first involuntary solarisation.
