More about Corbin D....
What do you love about your job?
Problem solving is a big part of it. You have the standard issues; lighting, composition, etc. There is a secondary level to good photography though. There are these rules, this structure, and then there is this human intangible element that is the wild card. Everyone seems to know how to play by the rules and follow the structure, but as far as the intangible goes, this third element, that’s where it all falls apart or comes together, it allows the photo to sink or swim or really transcend, which is really rewarding.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
In terms of creative portraits, I have found that making them special requires getting to know the individual you're shooting with. What I aim to capture is "real", and I believe that's only possible when you know something about your subject.
In terms of product, I was taught in college that "the design is in the details". I understand why the designer chose to mimic those radiuses, or why they chose to add highlights to the surfacing in this or that spot. I've been there, I understand what the designer was trying to capture and I leverage that into my photos.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
Published work in Editorial Magazine. My product shots for Hyundai were used at CES this year. My product shots for Celsee have been used on BusinessInsider magazine and a few other online publications.
A fun fact about this photographer
Aside from photography, I was a clay modeler at Ford Motor Company and a prototype builder at a small design firm in Mid-Michigan.
