More about Eric H....
What do you love about your job?
Photography, to me, is about recording a memory—capturing a place and time. Years from now, you can go back and look at a photo and remember every aspect of what led up to that moment. You'll recall the location, the look in her eyes, and even remember the heat of the day. Photos are time machines that transport the viewer to another time and place, and I love being someone who can make that happen.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
So much of my photography was used for advertising and marketing, so it's not always fun and games. Composition and lighting require more thought and planning when they're destined to go on a printed page or web site surrounded by words. Anticipating how the images will be used makes for better photos and happy clients. I really appreciate clients who have an idea of what they want and make the shoot a collaborative process.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
My deeds have mostly been unsung, quietly producing images that have been used in catalogues and web sites without much fanfare. My video work put me in the spotlight on social media when a large California winery held a contest for a dream job and I became one of ten finalists flown to Healdsburg, CA to participate. Lately, my travel photos adorn hundreds of walls throughout the world from my online poster sales.
A fun fact about this photographer
I took a year and a half and traveled around-the-world with my wife to 60 countries on 6 continents, taking thousands of photos along the way.
