What do you love about your job?
I love connecting with new people. This sounds so cliché but it’s true. I love meeting new people and building relationships. I don’t just show up and take photos. I get to know my clients on a personal level.
I love capturing stories through photography.
Everyone sees things differently. I love sharing my perspective. I strive to capture how moments felt, not just how they looked.
Photography is never dull because no photo is ever the same. There are always different lighting conditions to work with, different people, different scenery to photograph, etc. It is also a skill you can forever develop, which is great for me because I love to learn.
Finally, photography has made me appreciate and notice more small details in everyday life. I am always striving to capture the feeling of a fleeting moment.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I create art out of the love between families, which I find tremendously meaningful.
As a lifestyle photographer, I strive to capture a family’s authentic moments. My families have so much heart and soul in them, and therefore, so do my photographs.
One of the best things about photographs is capturing these fleeting moments in children’s lives. Some day soon they’ll be all grown up, doing big things we can only imagine. I can’t wait to watch their journeys unfold. But for now, in this moment, they are still little kids, running barefoot through the grass and dirt, laughing and playing and peering curiously at the world. And it’s an honor to capture that.
A fun fact about this photographer
I grew up in Ireland and met my husband when i was 15. He grew up in the next town from me and a friend introduced us. 12 years later we were married!
