Started photographing as a nine year old with my uncles who were professional wedding and event photographers (weddings, parties, etc.) Eventually I went from just carrying their heavy equipment to actually taking many of the pictures and developing the black and white photos in their darkroom. Photographed consistently through high school and college with some paid assignments of my own- mostly for fun and some extra cash. Got into digital photography in Y'2000 when my kids arrived and never looked back. My equipment kept getting better, started taking classes and mastering the fundamentals while people really appreciated my work.... Eventually started a website, a stock photography business and assignments started to come in.

More about Gerardo B....

What do you love about your job?

I love the way the camera feels in my hand. I love creating images and telling stories! I am very interested in people and their lives and work extremely hard to get my subjects to look fantastic! I truly believe that people can learn a lot about themselves during a photo is a thrill to see subjects discover new things about themselves during a session.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done all kinds of different shoots: from single portraits, to groups, to events. In all cases what made them special was making sure that a connection was made right away with the client and that clear goals were set from the beginning. An experienced photographer can map the trajectory of a shoot from beginning to end and recognize its common stages. What is important to realize is that even though the photographer can see all that happening...clients do not have the insight to recognize the amazing progress that takes place in a short time. I always made sure to share those observations with the client and through simple and kind directions make sure we are successful at achieving our initial goals.
