Josh is currently pivoting towards doing exclusively portrait work and wanted a change of pace. He is completely self taught in photography, and he feels if you want to make it as a photographer (especially for 12 years) you need to be amazing at connecting with people and running your own business. His strongest skill is the ability to read people and be able to connect with them. Everyone has different things that will make them comfortable and not so out of sorts when getting their photo taken. Most people don't want to even be there, they were brought by the person that actually wants to be there. You need to get everyone on the same page as far being in a decent mood and giving you some genuine looks and nothing forced. Josh is very big into that, and he feels that's why so many clients have a great experience with him and are blown away by their photos at the end of the session.

More about Josh R....

What do you love about your job?

My job is absolutely amazing. Just being able to say I love my job, makes me love it even more! I'm very big on telling stories with photos, while covering events and moments. I have a large need to be creative, and getting out there and problem solving how to get the best shots is some of my most gratifying time.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I've literally done about everything possible. Pets, couples, engagements, birthdays, corporate events, Professional sports, boudoir, high end modeling, senior photos, real estate, landscapes, head shots, maternity, families, newborns, the list really keeps going from there all the way down to some pretty off the wall stuff. I always try to make things go to the next level. My tag line is actually "no more boring photos" . Recently I shot a gender reveal where all they wanted was to bring out a bike painted pink to stand next too. I showed up with a cake, a box full of pink balloons to shake out, and 20 lbs of pink chalk to throw all over the place (It was outdoors) I'm always going to take those extra steps to make things memorable and eye catching.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

I was featured in racer X magazine once in 2014, then again in 2016 for being a stellar contributor. Along with my photos in the magazine on a regular basis.

A fun fact about this photographer

I used to play cello for 6 years and moved on to playing bass guitar through-out high school in local bands.
