More about Julie G....
What do you love about your job?
I love documenting events with photographs as the story instead of words and being able to provide my clients with those images that serve as memories for years to come. I love making my clients happy and building a trusting relationships with them. I love the uniqueness, creativity and sometimes the challenge of the entire process. Most of all I love the continuous learning with my job as a photographer, meeting new people and feeling like you're a part of the community.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done many different types of shoots from a 7 year olds invisible tea party to the President of the United States. For the tea party I was commanded by the birthday girl to taste test some invisible tea with her and let her know which tea I liked the best, before serving the tea to her friends. Needless to say, we had an extensive discussion about those invisible teas.
The feline shoot I did with 3 male cats, which was one of my most favorite days! I photographed each one separately yet they were always together, made sure they were fed & happy, brought out their favorite toys, loved on them continuously, brushed them, chased them through the house, did whatever made them happy and playful to get the best shots. Towards the end while I was lying on the floor photographing Toby, Mickey hopped up on my back gave me a massage and laid down! So the owner grabbed his phone and took some shots as well.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I haven't entered any awards shows or photography competitions in the past 10 years, but I have won 2 silver and 1 Gold awards at the Gold Show Awards for photography. Out of 10 photographers, for a calendar shoot published by Obsidian Publishing, my images made the cover and 4 or 5 months of the calendar. A few of my photographs for public relations have been featured in USA Today and The New York Times as well as other works being published in: Commercial Journal, Entrée, Good Health KC, Ink, KC Business Journal, KC Magazine, Midwest CEO, Northland Lifestyle, Obsidian Publishing, Spaces Kansas City, The Independent, Thinking Bigger Business, This Is KC & Urban Times Magazine.
