More about Katie T....

What do you love about your job?

I love my job because the opportunities are endless. Every client and every session are different, they may be the same type of session but each person has their own story and I love that part. I love that I get to spend this moment in time with people, becoming so close and intimate with them that someone close to them might not even get to experience. I get to capture the love between people, how amazing is that!? I get to watch children grow up and capture milestones in people's lives and I just don't know a lot of other people that get that as a their job description. On a personal level, I love that it pushes me to learn more and pushes my artistic abilities. If I wished something went better, what can I do differently next time to accomplish that? There's not a dull moment in this job and I love that it's limitless. This may be on the more obvious and corny side of things, but my passion truly turned into my career, and that was my dream.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done a lot of family portraits and small elopements lately. I like to make my families feel special by making the focus on the kids. I know every parent gets intimidated before the session and worries about their kids behaving but i've found that making it geared around them makes them feel special and open to having some fun. If there's multiple kids, sometimes having the run to me and race breaks some of tension. Or listening to the things they love or doing photos they want to do can really help.

For my elopements, I like to help a lot before the session. I like to assist in finding the best location to make sure it's everything they dreamed of and really figure out what their expectations are and even any concerns. We talk about the best time of day or any fun ideas we might want to try. I always love a champagne pop!!

A fun fact about this photographer

I've been skiing since I was just a little girl and it's been on my bucket list to go heli skiing. If you're unfamiliar with what that is, it's when you get taken to the top of a mountain by helicopter and jump out and ski some pretty crazy terrain.

Also, I love pandas and would love to be held by one.
