Laura Perkins is a professional photographer with ten years' experience photographing weddings, events, lifestyle, portraits, and food. With a passion that extends beyond the photograph itself, she aims to tell a story through every photograph she takes. Wedding photography is her current passion, as her ability to document authentic, in-between moments between couples is unparalleled by her techniques with natural lighting. Throughout her ten years as a professional photographer, she has had the opportunity to work with some large names, including Starbucks, Anthropologie, Yelp, Door Dash, and Locale Magazine.
I love capturing real, authentic moments behind the lens. I believe everyone's best qualities shine when I am photographing them because I see what makes them beautiful. My favorite photos are the ones showing people in their true, genuine form. They are unabashedly afraid to be themselves and that takes a lot of courage. When I am able to bring this out in an image, it becomes what I love about my job.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have photographed weddings, events, engagements, portraits, families, newborns, real estate, food and lifestyle sessions. I always try to make it special by showing the unique qualities that the person/item has. If I am photographing a wedding, I incorporate as many elements as I can into the photos that are important to the couple, if I am photographing an engagement session, I learn about their personalities and help those shine on camera, and if I am photographing a food session I try to find unique characteristics about the food and display them on camera in visually appealing ways.
