I started getting interested in photography when I was 13 and our family dog was one of my first models.
At 17 I went to college, majoring in photography in St. Petersburg (Russia) and tried my hand at different genres: portrait, object photography, photojournalism, weddings, but... at 21 I recognized that my main passion and vocation was the one I started with when I first picked up the camera.
And from 2009 onwards I've decided to perfect the craft of taking pictures of animals. Pets in families, animals in zoos or even rescue centers and their unique relationships with the people who care for them are my main passion, the beauty of which I want to convey in my work.

More about Marina P....

What do you love about your job?

I love animals, I love meeting people who love animals as much as I do and truly care about them. I really love beautiful pictures.
And my work brings it all together, so I love literally everything about it!

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have a very big experience of shooting in the studio with natural light as well as using flash photography.
And I've had a pleasure of working with a lot of animals, from dogs and cats to frogs and orangutans.
Animals most often do not know how to pose and behave well in front of the camera, but in my opinion this isn't a drawback at all! On the contrary, it's easy to make any shoot special if you follow the animal's behavior. Place them in the location to build a beautiful shot and then simply don't interfere with them playing naturally and interacting with the owner the way only they can!

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

My greatest honor is to see that my photos bring joy! That the owners are surprised at how beautiful their pets really are!
For me recognition is to sometimes see my photos on magazine pages, on packages in a pet store, on booklets, on social media pages of my clients and in their homes.
For eleven years I've been putting out a calendar with my photos for my social media followers. Knowing that they admire my work is one of my biggest rewards!
I also took several awards at local photography contest in Russia, but think that it doesn't matter :)

A fun fact about this photographer

Sometimes I think I should have taken pictures of my own pets more often))) But sometimes even photographers forget how important it is to save wonderful moments of togetherness with our small pals.
