More about mark m....

What do you love about your job?

Photography brings a lot of things i love doing into one area. Problem-solving (product and food), making people laugh (events and portraits), technical and creative skills. Photography presents something new with almost every shoot. I am constantly learning new skills, and interacting with people from all aspects of life.
I always urge my clients to print the photos if they can, in a book if available. Photography captures you, your family, your product at a moment in time. Looking back can show you how far you have come, and bring memories of people who may no longer be with us.
The greatest compliments I get about my job is when someone tells me i captured their family member's personailtiy perfectly, or that they never thought their food/product could look so good.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

the best way to make a shoot special is to communicate with the client to know what they want out of it. My primary goal is to make them happy. I really deliver what they want, then i make sure to deliver my take on it. I go the extra mile to give them something they may not have known they wanted as well.
I always want to communicate though, make them know I appreciate their trust in me, make it a fun, funny, positive experience for everyone...and over deliver. Always over deliver.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

My work has been featured on several books as author photos. As well as in a few magazines.
My event photography was used on a large billboard in Boston for the ICA First Friday events.
My personal work "Whimsy in every day" was featured at on Sommerville community TV and hosted a show their location.

A fun fact about this photographer

I am an avid hiker. Most recently I did the 93-mile wonderland trail around Mount Rainer in Washington state. I am also a sci-fi nerd, if asked which is my favorite Star Trek series, my answer is yes.
