Maya has always had a love for photography. From a very early age - if she went, a camera went with her! Maya cultivated that love with darkroom work, photography courses, and contributing to her college as photo editor of the newspaper, yearbook and literary magazine Maya specializes in Maternity Shoots, Newborn Sessions, Children's Photography, Head shots, Engagements and Family Portraits. She also shoots Special Events and Celebrations such as Charity Gala's, Small Weddings and Birthday Parties. If she were to choose a favorite...it definitely would be family photography capturing moments to be shared generation, after generation, after generation.

More about Maya M....

What do you love about your job?

I love that each and every shoot is different. Outdoor shoots are definitely my favorite. Going on mini walkabouts and letting whatever catches my eye guide guide me. Letting children run and play. Therefore, capturing their energy and personalities in the images. Sessions are very organic. Happening naturally and flowing with ease. Many clients come back year after year. Which allows me to watch the children and families grow. It is the ultimate thank you that I receive from my clients.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

In my career I have done all sorts of shoots. For all, the main way I make them special is to make the client feel at ease. More specifically, for event photography, I capture all the moments that they have put so much thought into that most may overlook. For children's or family photography I like to bring a few small little props, whether it be bubbles, confetti or even a lollipop, just to help set the mood for the child. I may even play music to loosen everyone up.

A fun fact about this photographer

I was formerly an Electron Microscopist, which actually involves photography...just of teeny weeny tiny things. As, well as a computer programmer. And, I can make a mean old-fashioned.
