Megan Bowers-Vette has a long and widely published career as a Fashion, Portrait and Documentary photographer that spans Australia and New Zealand, appearing in fashion mags such as Remix, Vice and Girlfriend, newspapers such as The New Zealand Herald and even DPhoto, NZ's digital photography publication.

She started out as an art student in Wellington, before going into a commercial photography scholarship program at Aucklands premier commercial photography studio, Kingsize Studios. From there she dabbled in fashion before launching the Us Project, a nationally funded documentary of Australians and New Zealanders living with the experience of assault. The project landed her a major exhibition at a New Zealand Art Museum, as well as a published 270 page book.

Megan moved to Melbourne two years ago and has since been focusing on her art practice, although still has a great love for fashion photography and portraiture, and she is excited of the the prospect of meeting and shooting new people with Snappr.

More about megan b....

What do you love about your job?

What I love the most is experiencing connection through the process of creating with another person.

When I am shooting and my subject begins to let themselves go and be in the moment, when I am able to capture that glimpse of who they truly are, or who they truely want to be, and then I show them the image on the back of my camera and their eyes light up and they smile.

Thats the moment I love. When we have just created that joyful moment together.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done many types of shoots. Portraits, headshots, fashion editorials, social media content. I think the spice to make them special is really listening and understanding the purpose of the shoot and putting the focus on the emotion of the image.

A fun fact about this photographer

I am Corgi crazy and have a one year old red and white Corgi pup called Yuki. We love to go to cafes and parks and as many nerdy Corgi meetups as possible.
