Natcha (Nannie) Wongchanglaw brings a professional background in studio and location portraiture to her current work as a lifestyle and documentary photographer. That experience has also included business management, recruitment, and the cruise ship and wedding photographer, giving her a unique skill set that she has honed with advanced photographic coursework at Michigan State University and the Nikon School in her native Thailand, and more recently with her master’s in digital photography degree from New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts. This intensive program added state-of-the-art capture and printing expertise to her photographic talents. Wongchanglaw is the 2020 grand prize winner of the Fujifilm Students of Storytelling contest and also the winner of the 2020 Critics’ Choice Award - LensCulture.

More about Natcha W....

What do you love about your job?

I like that photography can preserve memories and moments. I love capturing the scenery of places I visit to keep as my personal treasures and also love helping people capture their special times. I especially feel lively when seeing people appreciating my work.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done many studio portraits when I worked as a cruise photographer and done some amount of weddings. I like to have my guests or models comfortable and involve in the creating process. I like them to share their thoughts or ideas if they have, and I would help adjust or suggest as necessary. I want my guests to feel that I am their friends who take photos for them than just a photographer. Similar to food and product shoots, I would study the clients' needs and work along with clients during the shoot if they'd joined the shoot.

A fun fact about this photographer

- I am originally from Bangkok, Thailand. I studied computer science as an undergrad, worked as a recruitment consultant before quitting to pursue my dream career in photography.
- I have a big scar from a jellyfish on one of my knees and behind that same knee, a dog bit me. Each of the accidents causes me to stay in the hospital for 2-3 weeks. Lucky me they both are on the same knee, leave another knee clean :D
