More about Noah L....

What do you love about your job?

I love all the things about photography that most photographers do. I love watching someone see themselves in a beautiful way for the first time, and I like telling stories through imagery, and searching for a great shot in a mediocre environment. But mostly, I love the way I keep surprising myself with tomorrows picture, and that my best work is yet to come. I will truly never stop learning or trying new forms of photography, and I'm excited to become inspired in ways that I've never thought I would.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I've shot a myriad of events with a varying range of need for me to interact with what or who I'm taking picture of . When I've covered protests or news events, I generally act as a silent observer, slipping in and out of sight, and doing my best to be the smallest presence there. I also occasionally take interior pictures of newly built Starbucks stores for a construction management company, which calls for no human interaction (although I try to make each shot special through lighting). On the other hand, I've shot weddings, portraits, company parties, and street outreach, where in order to take a memorable image, I rely on my communication skills and off the cuff humor to create reactions and natural moments. I'd like to think I'm well adjusted to any environment and I know how to read a crowd. Some of the best photos I've ever taken have been while simply talking to the client about something totally irrelevant to photography.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

I've been featured in 'Exemplar' (street photo publication), by the city of Seattle, by 'Komo 4 News' (including a 1 minute long segment on a particular photo), by 'Capitol Hill Seattle' (for protest photography) and by multiple online feature pages.

A fun fact about this photographer

When I was 5 my parents bought me a goat for my birthday. Her name was, Nibbles. She lived until she was 16.
