More about Pearlie C....

What do you love about your job?

It's true when they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes it's worth more - it's the stories behind the photos that can be told over and over. I love being a part of those stories for clients and helping them capture special memories they'll share with loved ones for years to come. When you do what you love, it doesn't feel like a job. That's how you know that what you're doing is meant for you.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I've done mainly portrait shoots, everything from baby, maternity, engagement, headshot, family and anniversary photos. I like to warm up to clients by taking a few test photos to ease them into the shoot. Once they see them, they become comfortable with me which helps me do my job well. I also try to incorporate some fun into the shoot so that the whole experience is enjoyable.

I've done food shoots as well. I did some photos for a restaurant during the pandemic last summer. The chef/owner was working by himself and needed help with photos for the take out menu at two of his locations. They specialized in food from Sorrento, Italy. We had an instant connection as I shared my experiences in travelling to Sorrento just a few years ago. And, my fiancé took me there for my birthday so it was extra fun to photograph their food. The chef was grateful for my help that I also got to try some of his dishes - perks of being a food photographer!

I also did work for a local baker who was on Food Network (US and Canada) as a contestant for those baking competitions. She was promoting Mother's Day desserts and needed some photos. This was special in that I had tried her desserts a year ago, my cousin ordered a cake from her. Little did I know I'd photograph her desserts a year later and have fun doing it. It was a great experience as she was fun to work with.

A fun fact about this photographer

Fun fact: I was on two tv game shows in the audience: The Price is Right and Deal or No Deal. I wasn't selected as a contestant but it was fun being on TV!
