Ricardo Picón is a Brooklynite born in Venezuela with over ten years of experience shooting portraiture, products, antiques, food, real estate, and interiors for commercial use.

He stumbled upon commissioned work when the art director of Trace Magazine saw his work and asked him to contribute to their product sections, ever since different companies in the e-commerce, editorial, food, real estate, and art industries started trusting Picón's skills and ability to translate their vision into images.

Picón is an avid art photographer as well; his influences come from hyperrealism, surrealism, landscape, conceptual photography, portraiture, and urban sights.

Picón is a former musician and producer with works for TV and record labels such as Sony, Universal, and Avex in Japan.

He holds an MPA in photography from "The School of Visual Arts" and a Music Technology degree from NYU.

More about Ricardo P....

What do you love about your job?

I love falling in love with a moment, an idea, a vision, or a product and giving it shape to portray its best light. Every photoshoot is a new story and challenges, capturing the moment's essence, even if it has taken planning and production. I love seeing clients happily surprised, engaged, and excited with their photos.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I have done corporate and actors' portraiture for their marketing assets, food for menus and websites, products and antiques for e-commerce sites, and interiors for real estate listings and interior designers.

When I make portraits, I love to make my subjects feel at ease, happy, and confident; I love to break the ice with a soft joke, improvise, and do "face yoga," which is funny; it is making all kinds of weird gestures to ease the face expression and relax the facial muscles. I love to hear about their stories, the picture of themselves they love the most, and why.

When I shoot still-life, I love showing the client the process, making them part of the shoot, and adding value to their product. It is vital for them to feel confident that these pictures will get the attention they are craving.

A fun fact about this photographer

I'm a pianist and an electronic music head! I was signed by a record label when I was 17 and had a video with MTV which you can see on Youtube, the artist name was "EOE" and the song was "Simba".
