Richard Casteel began to make photographs when he was 10 years old. He was always the kid with the camera growing up. He has turned that passion into a career. Richard is self taught, which gives him a unique perspective.
I love the challenge of every situation being different - the lighting is always different, the client's needs are always different, the environment can be different. I also love the challenge of representing an idea or concept visually. And the process of making a photograph - setting up a scene and finding the best angle - and the editing of an image is so much fun for me. I also get to meet so many different types of people doing different types of things - I end up learning a lot.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have done pretty much everything - food, products, weddings, families, events, real estate. I think that I make the photos special because it is my perspective meeting the clients perspective - sometimes a client doesn't know what they want. And so I make the photos special because it is my eye and my creativity that is bringing an idea to life. Other times a client has an idea - and I make the photo special because of my personality and my photography skills. I am very professional and patient - and intuitive. I have an ease about me but I am a very hard worker. I combine these personality traits with my creative ability to help bring to life a client's vision.
