Fell in love with photography when I was just a little kid; to me it was - and still is -magic.

Started getting more serious about the craft in 1989 at Hofstra University and was blessed with some very knowledgeable professors.

Got the photojournalism bug, had romantic dreams of flying off to distant lands, photographing conflict, famine and generally anything involving personal risk.

Thank goodness THAT never happened.

Landed a job with Newsday right out of college in 1994. Honed my skills working for five years with an incredibly talented staff of veteran photographers.

Left in 1999 for graduate school at the prestigious Ohio University School of Visual Communications.

Returned to New York and was hired as a photo editor for The Associated Press in 2001.

Earned my Master of Arts in Visual Communications in 2003.

Hired for a dream job in 2005 as corporate photographer for the NASDAQ Stock Market, spending the next four years meeting and photographing executives of the most influential corporations in America, as well as numerous celebrities.

Running my own photography business since 2009.

More about Robert T....

What do you love about your job?

For me, meeting new people, having them give me a little access to their lives, getting to know them and simply having a conversation while I happen to be taking photos is what makes the journey so enjoyable. My favorite portrait compliment are "That was quick and painless!" or "I finally have a portrait of my self that I actually like!"
Or after covering an event, I love to hear "You were everywhere and caught such great moments!" or "You really told the story of our event!"

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

As far as portrait shoots, I've worked with such a diverse range of subjects, from newborns to celebrities. My job is to let the subject shine, I'm just there to capture them at their best. Everyone gets treated the same way when they're in front of my camera, it's typically just a conversation where one person happens to have a camera!

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

Ten year member of the Professional Photographers of America.

A fun fact about this photographer

Nothing would be possible in my life without the most important words I ever heard at the age of 11. "Hey Kid! Watch out for that bus!" and needless to say, my life has never been the same.
