More about Thomas K....
What do you love about your job?
At the end of the day, as corny as it might sound, I love creating beautiful images. I take pride in having the confidence and experience that allows my clients to trust that I am going to capture what they envision. Nothing makes me happier than a client who is overjoyed with the end result.
It is a job, but it truly is what I love and live for. I am endlessly excited by the new tools and technologies that have made photography more accessible to people such as myself who are building careers in the industry.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have a broad range of experience from real-estate, to wedding/portrait, to food photography, and more. The first thing that comes to mind are some of the corporate headshot jobs I have been hired for.
On some of these jobs, I was required to capture headshots for entire brokerage teams over the course of a few hours. Many of these people were there begrudgingly, and certainly did not have any interest or experience in modeling.
Diffusing their tension through conversation and laughter, and providing enough direction to them to pull their mind away from their own internal dialogue enabled me to capture images that surprised them.
Many of these people were never really happy with the way they looked on camera up until that point, and watching them light up with self-appreciation was truly moving. I have no doubts that being able to proudly display those images on their business cards and websites increased their professional confidence in their respective fields.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I have not formally accepted any awards, but my work has been published in a few magazines and international publications.
A fun fact about this photographer
I have been around art my whole life. I attended an alternative high school for the arts, where I took classes under a number of award winning professors. The school still exists today despite being chronically underfunded, and has received multiple grants from Billy Joel to continue cultivating the next generation's artists.
