What do you love about your job?
I honestly love every aspect of my job. I adore connecting with people and celebrating their milestones with them. I love being able to tap into my creative side and help people formulate their vision, and bring it to life. I love the entire process of mastering the technical aspects of lighting, posing, and editing. I love applying what I've learned to photo sessions. I absolutely LOVE...MOST of all...the look on someone's face when I deliver pictures they never thought were possible.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I have shot family sessions, headshots, maternity, engagements, and even a (very small/intimate) wedding. I have had a family come up with jokes to tell each other during the shoot to evoke some genuine laughs, and they loved it. I have shown examples of poses to engagement couples so they can see what I am aiming for in a shot to make it easier for them. All in all, my job is to create the scene in any way I can to get the pics that tell your story.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I received my first publication in a fashion magazine this year, followed rather quickly by my second and third within a couple months of each other. While these are extremely validating accomplishments for me, nothing will top the recognition of making someone fall in love with images of themselves or their loved ones.
A fun fact about this photographer
I once won a spelling bee in 7th grade! I have yet to parlay that into something relevant in adult life however. (sad face)
