I adore how photography turns you into an observer-- a person who revels in the delicate and beautiful details of our world. Before I got my start in photography I would see towering cityscapes, drive by a beautiful hill of flowers, look at snow-covered mountains, see someone's face with tons of character, and honestly, I did not pay attention to those details. Now, I'm always paying attention to the leaves changing, bustling city streets, or a beautiful light flitting across someone's face because I have a way to capture this beauty through photos. In a certain sense, photography is how I translate the stories I want to tell. Additionally, I love how unpredictable a career in photography is. Every photo job is unique and requires you to think on your feet, meet new people, and push yourself to create something brand new. No photoshoots are exactly alike and that energizes me immensely.
What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?
I've mostly worked for brands who want lifestyle photos of their product. My secret to making shoots special is to be curious-- about the product, models, the company owner, the marketing team, and even the product itself. Questions light people up. So that is what I bring to every shoot. It is just as important as the camera.
Awards, honors, and recognitions received
I have been the recipient of two fine art photography artist residencies; The Artesian Wells located in central London (2020) and the other in Nina Rodin Foundation in Trelex, Switzerland (2019).
A fun fact about this photographer
I can tell you a few! I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I rescued a one-legged chicken when I was 10, and I've been bitten by a rattlesnake.
