More about Wanja N....

What do you love about your job?

I love being able to meet new people and learn from others. No one shoot is the same, and being able to exchange energy with people, and help people feel like their most beautiful or confident selves is what makes me most happy. With my event and live music photography, being able to showcase the energy, and the story, behind an event, is so fulfilling to me. I also love that as a photographer, you are continuously learning and growing.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

With my portrait sessions, I have done almost everything from creative portraits to graduation photos, to professional headshots. I make them special by being my friendly and warm self, playing music during the shoot, and directing the models to tap into their most confident selves. I also have a reflector and various props that I bring to set, and this makes each photo a lot more unique and not like any other.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

One of my photos was featured on KAYAK's Instagram, and the organization Black Women Photographers has also featured two of my portraits during a Mother's Day piece.

A fun fact about this photographer

I am a published author of a book of short stories for readers between the ages of 9 - 12 titled Bejewelled Africa which aims in showcasing the beauty and development of Africa's countries whilst retelling some of the continent's pre-colonial history. I also enjoy creating mini vlogs highlighting aspects of my life and the restaurants I visit through the eyes of an aesthete.
