How did you get started with photography

I began my photographic journey when I was in my sophomore year of high school. I spent nearly 60% of my time photographing film and developing them in the darkroom. I could help but love being able to see the memories that were forgotten and slowly reappearing from development. And after the intense program at the Art Institute I became so much more interested in both the technical aspects of photography but also the emotional aspects.

What do you love about your job?

I love my job for many reasons, one of them being all the fantastic people I get to meet. Most often I hear that people enjoy taking an image and letting it be a signified memory that was told, and though that has its perks; my favorite aspect of photography is all the people I get to engage with and tell their story through my perspective. Its hard to meet a person and get to know them well enough to capture the essence they have in such a short amount of time, but its also easy enough to see the essence they want you to see. I enjoy learning how to make people feel comfortable in an uncomfortable environment. I also love being the person they trust well enough to capture who they are.

What are some of your favorite places in Denver to take photographs?

The greatest thing about living in Colorado is that almost everywhere we go, there is some beauty in it. Its called colorful Colorado for a reason, right? There are some particular spots that I love, such as; Lookout Mountain, Washington Park, Union Station, Highline Bridge, Red Rocks, Rocky Mountain National Park, The Great Sand Dunes NP, Cherry Creek Reservoir, Barr Lake State Park, Cheeseman Park, etc. I've got a list but this will hopefully spark some inspiration for your photoshoot!
