How did you get started with photography

I think I came out of the womb with a camera strapped to my neck. My Mother used to film us as kids and my father used to photograph us and so I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't have a camera. My Grandparents were all photographers and they never pushed us into doing anything so I never pursued it as a career, until a few years ago. I was previously working for an oil company in Canada and once I realised I needed an internal push, I moved to Melbourne and the rest is history.

What do you love about your job?

I love being able to give someone something they can hold onto for their entire life. When I was back in Canada on my last visit my Grandma and I went through old photos of my Great Grandma and I was able to see her on her wedding day. I now have this photo re-printed and it's a memory that I can now keep forever because of the gift of photography. Being able to give these moments to people is truly an honour. When I get to be in some of the most intimate moments imaginable with someone, I often think to myself, how did I get so lucky. I'm creating long lasting relationships with people and creating a true and genuine connection.

What are some of your favorite places in Melbourne to take photographs?

This list will be too long. Black Rock, Elwood Beach, St Kilda Greenhouse, Fitzroy Gardens, any alleyway in Fitzroy, Royal Botanic Gardens, Mornington wineries, Wilsons Prom, Port Melbourne, Williamstown. I could go on forever. Most of these locations are best at sunrise and sunset.
