Our daughter wanted a photo shoot at her Prom send off and Mark did a wonderful job. He arrived early to accommodate the limo pick up time and it was an unhurried, relaxed, enjoyable time. Mark wanted to capture the sunlight and beautiful background outside near a weeping willow tree and he was extremely patient with our family and her friends who were included in multiple photos. When I wanted a particular backdrop of a fairyland included - he made it even more special by adding an arm chair, a throw and created a scenario so she could know how to pose. Our daughter was very comfortable and extremely happy! Thank you so very much Mark for making her day memorable and capturing it for a lifetime!

My photo shoot experience with Makorov was beyond fantastic! Makorov was in touch with me before the photo shoot to understand my needs and the setting. On the day of the photo shoot he went above and beyond to capture pictures with different backgrounds and angles. (He also must have snapped dozens or hundreds of pictures, which was a pleasant surprise and will give us many images to pick from!) Just as importantly, he really put me at ease throughout the entire process, which I appreciated it since I am not the most confident in front of a camera. And the preview he showed me of the pictures looked amazing. My spouse is already planning to contact Makorov for professional head shots! All in all, a great experience. :)

How did you get started with photography

I was on my honeymoon and I remember taking some photos of dilapidated boats against the sunset. I forgot about the images until I came home. My wife had the film roles developed and commented on how good the images looked. 2 years later I enrolled in a professional program for "fun", and since then I have won exhibit contests, been published and been paid for my work.

What do you love about your job?

There are two things I love about my work. First, I get paid for capturing beauty in the ordinary. And second, my work has been seen by thousands of people.

What are some of your favorite places in Washington to take photographs?

I love photographing at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna. The place is full of beautiful backdrops. I also like photographing against rustic backgrounds like old farms or industrial buildings. The contrast makes the subjects pop.
