How did you get started with photography

When my parents first gave me a camera to photograph a family event, I was hooked. For years I photographed anything I could point a camera at, except people. When I finally got over the fear of 'shooting' people, I had found my missing piece. Since then I have become a portrait photographer, studied intensively, worked my way out of an unfulfilling office based career and now photograph professionally.

What do you love about your job?

Photographing people is a joy for me. The experience of getting to know my clients and subjects as we work together and their anxiety falls away is heaven for me! I love capturing the essence of a person in a single image and would do that every day for the rest of my life if I could! It's true what they say: if you do what you love , you never have to work a day in your life!

What are some of your favorite places in Melbourne to take photographs?

Melbourne is an amazing city to shoot in, such great light and so many locations! - For urban vibes I love shooting around Fitzroy, Brunswick, Footscray and even Moonee Ponds! - For nature I love Yarra Bend Park, St Kilda and Port Melbourne beaches, the Dandenongs, Merri Creek, and getting further afield to Warburton (and the redwoods) or a private farm in Keilor (a hidden and private gem) - St Kilda also has some fantastic spaces to shoot for a lighter, summery feel.
