Andrea Stillone is a self-taught photographer whose journey began unexpectedly, proving that fate is never accidental. Since discovering photography as a young adult, he has nurtured a steadfast passion marked by determination, perseverance, and a childlike curiosity. While photography quickly became his profession, it didn’t always allow him to pursue personal projects. To stay connected to his creative drive, Andrea embraced a “parallel photography” practice, capturing sunrises, participating in photographic marathons, and exploring exotic markets to translate their sights, sounds, and scents into compelling images.

More about Andrea S....

What do you love about your job?

What I love most about my job is the ability to tell stories through images. Whether I’m photographing people, places, or objects, I’m always looking for the unique details that bring a story to life. Every shoot is a chance to connect, to observe, and to create something meaningful and authentic.

What types of shoots have you done and how did you make them special?

I’ve worked across many types of photography — from architecture to events, portraits, and more recently, concerts. What I enjoy most are architectural and event shoots, where I can either focus on clean composition and structure or capture authentic, unscripted moments.

Some of my most meaningful experiences have come from working with nonprofit organizations, like food banks and emergency response associations, where I was able to document real stories and connect with incredible people. I also had the chance to photograph a circus collective, which was a truly unique and inspiring experience.

What makes my work special is my constant search for the essence of a scene or subject. I always try to find unusual perspectives and use natural light to create honest, visually engaging images.

Awards, honors, and recognitions received

While I haven’t received major awards, my work has been featured in local magazines and newspapers, which I consider meaningful recognition. For me, the greatest reward is when my photos connect with people or help tell an important story.

A fun fact about this photographer

I actually studied electronics before becoming a full-time photographer. One of my first jobs was as an industrial photographer for a manufacturing company — that’s where I learned to combine technical precision with creativity, which still influences my work today.
