I primarily started off shooting Real Estate photos and producing property showcase videos locally. Then gradually started to add on Portraits and Events as the demand grew. I've worked with individuals, smaller companies, and bigger commercial clients. Most of my training came from a combination of real-world experience on paid and donated gigs as well as online videos and courses. Days spent shooting are some of my favorite days.

All my training was done on the job, in the moment working with some extremely talented people. I learned how to use studio lighting by getting involved with photo studios in my area and booking photo shoots with local clients through volunteering at events, meeting people, and handing out my business card. This led to a great deal of paid assignments and opportunities. I also advertised online using Facebook and Google Adwords to get my portfolio in front of as many people as I possibly could. Through the years I learned to photograph very small, reflective jewelry to entire living room sets that I needed to light up from scratch. My training has taught me to seek a consistent, clean, bright quality in my photographs while keeping true to color and texture with minimal dependence on software. I try to make my image as perfect as I can in camera before turning to software to help or enhance the image.

How did you get started with photography

I always wanted to do photography, but it is an expensive hobby and it wasn't until 2000 that I picked up my first film camera in a WalMart store. During a 4 month working commitment in the UK I picked up a Practical Photography magazine for the first time. After a few months of reading it cover to cover and getting outside daily to try new photography techniques, I realized the bug had bitten him.

What do you love about your job?

I think my favorite part of being a photographer is that no two days are ever the same. I love the actual act of shooting, be it outside or inside. Time goes by in an instant when I get to shoot. Another favorite aspect is that moment when you realize, especially during editing that you have captured a split second of light so well that it moves you to emotion.

What are some of your favorite places in Dallas to take photographs?

I only recently moved to Dallas, but having lived in London for years my favorite places are back alleys with lots of texture and character. I also loved shooting along the Thames River. Shooting across the water for great reflections, on the sand when the tide is out. I loved shooting train stations. In Dallas, I enjoy going downtown and other city centers like Grapevine or Lower Henderson. Another thing I always seek out is bodies of water like rivers and lakes and finding unique photography angles for the highway interchanges.
