¿Cómo empezaste en la fotografía?
I was 18 and fresh out of high school when my father bought me my first DSLR camera, a nikon D7000. I never thought I could make a living out taking photographs, it was just another outlet of creativity for me. I began to use my friends as subjects to create realities out of my ideas and concepts I had begun dreaming about. There was no instagram back then, so I started a blog to share my photos. One of my first shoots was taking photos of a bunch of my friends in the woods late at night and throwing milk in front of them to create a very bizarre shoot to say the least. It wasn't until I entered my photos into a competition for Pedestrian Tv and was paid for an advertising campaign they were doing that I started to think about pursuing it as a career.
¿Qué amas de tu trabajo?
The constant exploration of what makes your work uniquely you, of creating a style that is uniquely yours is important to me as we live in a world where everyone is/thinks they are essentially a photographer. I love the whole process from the idea/concept process, to collaborating with other creatives, the shoot day and of course editing. I love editing just as much as shooting! The people I have been able to meet and the places I have been because of my job I never would've thought possible when I first picked up the camera. Doing what you love and being able to pay the rent is what almost everyone seeks out, no?
¿Cuáles son tus lugares favoritos en Brisbane para fotografiar?
I live in Sydney, Australia which of course is known for it's beautiful beaches although I love travelling a bit out of the city to more secluded beach spots down the coast. Where it's just me, my camera and the ocean and/or bush.
