Katherin Wermke is an internationally recognized photographer of German origin, with over 25 years of professional experience. Her career began in audiovisual media, working in television production in both Cologne and Mexico. She trained at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC), graduating in advertising photography, and later refined her skills in fashion photography at the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography in New York. Specializing in commercial, corporate, and portrait photography, Katherin works primarily between Barcelona, Berlin, and New York. Her client list includes prestigious national and international brands and institutions such as Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Airplan, Amouage Oman, Barrisol, BASF, Bayer Healthcare, Bolsaplast, Clínica Quirón, Cocunat, Deutsche Bank, Dolby Laboratories, Dubai Business Events, European Cancer Organization, Generalitat de Catalunya, Grisby Menswear, Grifols, La Pedrera, Lenovo, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NYC, Nestlé, Pepsico, School of Visual Arts New York, Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology, Wall Street Journal Europe, and Woman Figaro Magazine. Beyond her photography assignments, Katherin shares her expertise in academia. She teaches the postgraduate course in Advertising and Corporate Photography at the IEFC and leads the advanced lighting module in the Master in Photography and Design at ELISAVA, the School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona. She is also the co-founder of Photo Utopia, a photography studio based in Barcelona. Alongside her commercial work, Katherin is deeply engaged in documentary photography, collaborating with NGOs such as Street Heroes of India and Mumbai Smiles. She is an active member of both the Association of Professional Photographers of Spain (AFPE) and the non-profit collective Shoot4Change. With a strong commitment to visual storytelling and an exceptional ability to capture emotion and detail, Katherin continues to explore the world through her lens—giving voice to untold stories, supporting emerging photographers, and seeking out new perspectives. For her, there is still so much to photograph, so many stories to tell, and countless opportunities to share her vision and knowledge.
