How did you get started with photography

I remember my father gave me an Afgamatic 35mm bridge camera with a fixed 43mm lens in November 1987 and I started experimenting with black and white film photojournalism, then darkrooms everywhere I have been and shoot with all sorts of camera and formats from Russian Zenith to Leica and from Pentacon medium format to Hasselblad systems. I was shooting just before the digital with a Hasselblad 500 CM, it was an industry standard professional medium format camera, started with fashion and advertising working with agencies and direct clients, while the digital times caught me exactly in the process of relocation/migration in the years of 2000, exactly 18 years ago in Australia. Since then I have applied my film art education while fully embracing the digital technology.

What do you love about your job?

I like both experiment and realism. Experiment, pushing the boundaries, avoiding stereotypes, when I can, it's just depending on the job. I am excited about developing a story from an idea in the sense I can produce ideas for the shoot or inspire others along a set story and/or a brief. It is the basic difference e between making a photo(stage it) and taking a photo(documentary)

What are some of your favorite places in Sydney to take photographs?

My favourite places in Sydney are CBD streets, Australia Post, Sydney Harbour Bridge from the Pylon View, Bradleys Head, Beaches in Double Bay, Circular Quay and generally heritage buildings.
