Sam is very flexible, style-wise, when it comes to food photography. He produces outstanding results from just using a single light to, a full-commercial, fully lit setup. I worked closely with Sam Lim during his time in Hinge Inquirer. One of the things that impressed me was his versatility and expertise in photography. As staff photographer, he shot almost all of the images across all Hinge’s print titles and publications- from food, profiles, sports, products to home&interiors. After his stint with Hinge, we still worked with him as a regular contributing photographer for F&B Report. Since he has a culinary background, he played an active role during food shoots: he helped with the food styling and overall direction of the shoot.

Sam Lim joined F&B World (under Hinge Inquirer Publications) as one of our key photographers. Even from the start, his work stood out, especially for food shots. I guess this was also partly due to his culinary education. He takes note of your directions, but also makes suggestions that adds a different dimension we did not initially see. He knows how to work even with time limits and under pressure. We once went on a trip to Davao, and the shoots were back to back, with hardly any breaks. The shots turned out really well!
