6 places to shoot graduation photos & videos in Riverside
Mission Inn Hotel & Spa
The bell tower and stacked arcades read as formal without a cap and gown needing to do all the work on their own. Public garage parking sits a short walk from the courtyard, useful when a graduate is hauling a robe bag and a whole family is trying to arrive together.
For graduation photos: a campus-adjacent backdrop that reads academic.
Heritage House
The Victorian's symmetrical facade and ornate porches give cap-and-gown photos a formal backdrop without needing a campus at all. Paid admission gets a family onto the grounds, and the flat lawn out front holds a whole group without anyone standing on the flower beds.
For graduation photos: room for the cap toss and the reaction.
UCR Bell Tower
The 161-foot Carillon Tower says college before anyone even opens the frame, rising straight up behind whatever angle gets chosen. Weekend afternoons clear the quad of students, leaving the open lawns free for a graduate's whole extended family to fit into one shot.
For graduation photos: a setting that suits regalia without competing with it.
California Baptist University
Mission Revival arches and red-tile roofs give CBU's courtyards a polished, official feel that suits a cap and gown better than any plain lawn. Weekend mornings keep the plazas empty of students, and the fountains nearby add a second backdrop within the same short walk.
For graduation photos: space for family to gather after the solo frames.
Riverside City College Quadrangle
The columned arcades of the 1920s quad were practically built for cap-and-gown photos, symmetrical enough that a group shot lines up without much arranging. Overcast days spread the light evenly across the stone, which keeps a whole row of graduates looking consistent.
For graduation photos: clean architecture behind a gown and hood.
Historic Riverside County Courthouse
The courthouse's soaring columns and wide front steps make a dramatic stage for a diploma photo, formal in a way most parks can't manage. Weekend mornings leave the plaza quiet, so a graduate's whole family can spread across the steps without dodging foot traffic.
For graduation photos: somewhere the colours of the regalia stand out.

It depends on the spot. Public streets and sidewalks usually don't, while many parks, gardens, and landmarks require a permit for professional sessions. Each location above notes what we found on permits — confirm the current rules and any fee with the venue or city before you book.
Golden hour — the hour after sunrise or before sunset — flatters almost every location, and each spot above lists the light that works best there. Early morning also means thinner crowds at the popular ones.
